Heart of a Champion

Giambi is forgiven.... Boone is forgiven.... Rivera is especially forgiven....
My exact thought when Boone stepped in the batters box was that if he hits a home run here, he will officially become a New York Yankee...
Wow... WOW!!! I believe that was the first ever extra-inning home run to win a game 7. Someone check with Elias.
I actually tripped running to my cell phone as he was swinging.
Wow... WOW!!!!!!!!

Does Giambi bat 7th in the next series? No way in hell, but wow....
Posada vs. Pudge.... The two best catchers in the American League for about 4 or 5 years. Almost the same age.

Who starts game 1? I vote Rivera. Like him pitch every inning of the series.... It would be an extreme shock to go with Contreras or Weaver, so I guess Wells even though he pitched today.

Wakefield became Wakefield again!!!!
How many thought Ramierez would beat the Yankees? That AB in extras worried me the most, slightly ahead of Ortiz who killed the Yankees this year. I'm amazed he got a double - I really thought Matsui would throw him out.

I guess Little had to do it, but didn't we all know that Mirabelli would bat once Varitek was taken out. He actually did an amazing job missing the ball all those times. He pretty much guaranteed that Rivera would not come back out. Wow, who would Torre have brought out? I guess it would have to be Gabe to pitch to the lefties, but would you leave him in for Nomah and Manram? The world will never know.....

Hmmmm . . . Maybe you should rethink your title. Josh Beckett shuts out the Yankees! Wow...WOW!!!!!!! Heart of the Scoreless!

In other news, Steinbrenner is such an ass. While I think Don Zimmer is a fool (what the hell was this 72-year old thinking of when he swung at Martinez?), I am curious to see what he has to say about his "the Boss" once things settle down. Clemens is gone. Pettite will be gone. Wells is certainly gone.

Get used to the smell of fish, Yankee fans. That's not the smell of your opponents; it's the smell of your decaying institution!

Who will be left to turn out the lights at Yankee Stadium? Who would have thought that a bunch of fish could beat the Yankees? (Of course, I had been hoping for Cubs-Red Sox matchup, so what do I know.)

Admittedly, the recent period of Yankees baseball have been of such excellence that some might not be satisfied with just making the World Series, but they should be congratulated for making the World Series. While they won't be wearing the ring, it would be hard for someone to convince me they weren't the better team. The Marlins just had some more magic this time out.

Petitte is most certainly not gone. His excellent post season pitching will keep his price high, but the Yankees have most certainly shown they are willing to pay to keep their own talent. I put the chances of them resigning him at 80%.

Clemens is gone, but hopefully Jon Lieber will lessen that blow. They'll still have an excellent pitching staff.
Zimmer is no fool. It might not have been the wisest move on his part, but one has to admire a 72 year old man who twice was almost killed by bean balls for defending his team from a cheap shot artist.

I see no reason why the Yankees won't be favorites for next year.
