Quick Hits

As a stop gap until we move to a better technique, here are some Quick Hits:
Links that need to be put somewhere, but won't get a full entry at this time.

 • Upcoming.org Could be a very useful site or the basis for a hacker, stalker movie.
 • Neighborhood Radio I swear that I just talked to someone about the idea that malls should have low powered radio stations for announcing events when you happen to be in the area, but I was unsure of the legal status and cost. Actually, a local apartment complex is already sort of doing this.
 • BlogLines Could be an answer for synching feeds, but what about my email, bookmarks, etc.? (saw here)
 • The O.C. is the best show on TV Agreed, but it has been coming back to the pack recently. Also, lookie here, here
 • TiBook Antenna I've been traveling more recently and it would be nice to have better range, but for someone like me with 802.11b I wonder if it would be better to just get a PCMCIA card that supported a, g, or x
 • NC RR: not quite 5 9's I live in the same general area, and when I used to work at home I swear every Monday like clockwork for 15 minutes to 2 hours in the afternoon Road Runner would go down. Still a great service though
 • Tiger and Eclipse I've already downloaded the Java 1.5 beta, need to try it out with Eclipse (saw here)

Eclipse is by far the worst IDE ever. IntelliJ is sooooo much better.

No wars will be fought today over IDE's, but I'm currently using Eclipse and I'm quite happy with it (and I've returned to it after the misery of being forced to write plugins for continually changing versions of it a few years ago when it was still an IBM only product). While I've always been a fan of Visual Slickedit, the huge advantage that Eclipse has for my company is that we're not paying $500 per seat, we're not paying $300 per seat, we're paying $0 per seat. Plus I'm right now using the same IDE on three different operating systems (Windows, SuSE, OS X) and it works and looks exactly the same. I especially like the improvements in the latest milestone (3M7).

It could be a touch faster, but I'm not using top of the line machines and delays are only occasionally noticeable. I also wish to god it had split editors for the same code (and I hope it actual does but I just haven't figured out how to do it). However from looking at the front page for IntelliJ, I really don't see anything it can do that Eclipse can't that my company would use, and we do use a lot of features of Eclipse.

Wow, when closing my browser windows I just noticed that Slickedit is now Eclipse-based. I don't believe that was the case when I used it.

While looking for some information about Eclipse myself (why, oh why can you not split an editor?), I came across another post that had this discussion - though I am sure there are many out there that are having it. Also apparently Eclipse can load a class on the fly while debugging, so I am unsure of the advantages of IDEA. To each their own.

To continue commenting on this one-sided debate, the good folks at IBM were kind enough to write down some tips on how unfortunate IntelliJ developers can migrate to Eclipse.

Hi all. A mother is not a person to lean on but a person to make leaning unnecessary.
I am from Sierra and learning to write in English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Daniels is listed by lance reddickvalchek is the deputy commissioner of administration."

Thank ;-) Darcy.

Hey. Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. Help me! I find sites on the topic: The artifacts inspired to maintain the such demon demon which had been sent by orlando buttons.. I found only this - prada diaper bag.
