Are we that bad?

ESPN has Duke as a #4 seed in the initial Bracketology rankings. Make that a #4 seed in the Midwest behind Illinois, Georgia Tech, and Louisville. Are we really going to be that bad?

Granted, we have a big question mark at the point guard position. But we still have a couple of excellent big men, the best shooter in the country, a great slasher, and a potential defensive POTY.

I'm thinking we get a four seed with 8 losses, including a second round ACC tournament loss. I can't see it happening...

I was just looking at the Mag and they have Duke 9th (so the top 3rd seed in theory). I hate the title (since Dickie kept saying it about UNC last year), but it would be hard for someone to convince me that Duke doesn't have the best starting 5 in America (and that is with Papa Doc at the point). They'll be starting 4 juniors and a senior and do people really believe they haven't put in the time and effort to improve in the off-season (especially the Shav and Redick)? Btw, what about the return of Reggie Love? How the hell did that happen?

Charlotte looks strong on paper this year in the last hurrah for the real Conference USA.

Wow, that game is going to cost Charlotte at the end of the year when it comes to NCAA seedings. The 49ers and Bobcats need to get together, practice free throws, and stop parodying Shaquille.

This will be the year that Coach K further cements his legend by keeping this team in the top half of the ACC. The games should be a lot more exciting this year compared to years like '99.

SI had Charlotte at 19. The Rutgers loss is going to hurt, but Rutgers may be set for a good year, which would mitigate it somewhat. A dominant run through C-USA would help, but I think the big problem is a lack of ranked teams in the schedule. If they can beat at least two of Indiana, Alabama, and Davidson, combined with a strong C-USA season, they should be in good shape.
