Word of the Day: Kawaii

What a horrible post to knock the last story from the top, but we are compelled to give our readers (or at least one reader) what they want, so here is a short article on the Kawaii trend coming to America

Took a sec to flip through the photo gallery linked from the article. Just a clarification, not everything in anime is kawaii. For example, I wouldn't consider that Gwen Stefani picture as kawaii--it might be inspired from anime, but I don't know (and frankly, I don't want to know).

Kawaii is cute (or as the article defines, "super cute"). Kawaii is not supposed to mean "hot." In fact, the two might even be mutually exclusive. Someone might consider someone who is kawaii as more attractive than someone who is "hot" or vice-versa, but that would be up to the person's own preferences. Maybe the best example of kawaii in anime I can think of come from the show Cardcaptor Sakura. Here's another link.

P.S. I know I've enraged another KissaBoo author...and that was my intention. (*/.\)

I have a feeling that maggette is going to give us another lecture on the age of consent in Japan after that comment, gimpy.
