Apparently, the current generation of Charlotte children will miss out on running around in downtown (or uptown) parking lots watching the reflected glow of fireworks off those big buildings since WBT is moving the fireworks to SC. While we would always listen along to WBT's classical tracks during the fireworks, I never knew they were the sole sponsor. Hopefully, Charlotte will get its act together and pay for the fireworks themselves like every other municipality in the United States. Let it be known that Pat McCrory is the man that thinks Charlotte's downtown is too vibrant to need to celebrate Independence Day.
Update (5/22/06): The fireworks are back on, but did they really have to get Clear Channel involved? I would rather they take money from Winston or RJR, but I guess beggers cannot be choosers - though why Charlotte has to beg is a mystery to me.
